Ship 550 has been serving Long Beach and the neighboring communities for a long time. We have a long history of service and a rich Sea Scouting tradition.
The Ship meets year-round every Tuesday evening (7:00p to 8:30p) in the Long Beach Sea Base located at
This outstanding ship is lead by Long Beach Area Council Commodore Mr. Albert Guerra and other experienced parents. They worked together to provide what is best for the Sea Scout.
We have traveled to many High Adventure Camps such as Philmont New Mexico, Northern Tier Michigan and the Summit in West Virginia. We have participated in two National Jamborees and have traveled to regattas and camporees. We have also sailed in the Bahamas and have sailed down to San Diego on the Maui Diamond.
Taking a break might mean relaxing on a hammock for some. But our crew spends time having fun and also work on our rank requirements at the same time. From shooting to swimming and hiking to eating.
The Maui Diamond is our 67' Sailing Ketch. This is our home base and the center of our program. The Vessel was donated to us in August of 2017 by Mr. John Miller and his family.
The Crew has sailed the Maui Diamond 5 times to Catalina and once to San Diego. We are planning a trip to Baja California the summer of 2019.
You can learn how to sail her and be part of a crew that seeks fun, adventure and most of all life long friendships.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
Sign up to receive more information about our ship. One of our crew will reach out to you shortly.
Visit us at the Long Beach Sea Base. But call us first to make sure we are not on a cruise or another adventure.
